“...in Thy presence is fullness of joy…” Ps. 16:11
Today, men and women are obsessed with trying to find happiness, pleasure and enjoyment. Sadly, most of the time their efforts to obtain happiness and joy are seldom realized. One of the key reasons is because they are looking for it in the wrong places. Many are looking for happiness in drugs or liquor, some perhaps attempting to mask the misery of their lives. Others look for happiness in power or the accolades which come from fame. Think about it, how many famous people have you heard of that are happy? Most are divorced many times, many are depressed and some even commit suicide. Then there are multitudes that believe that they would be happy if only they had a lot of money and the fun or excitement which that money would bring. Sure, it might make some things a bit easier, but it is fleeting. It will not rescue you from your death bed… nor help you as you stand before God.
There is however, a true and lasting joy that no amount of money can ever obtain. A joy beyond fame or fortune. It is the joy of knowing that your sins are forgiven, and that your eternity in heaven is secure. This joy comes as your delight in the God who created you. It comes from spending time in His presence in prayer and in worship. It comes as you embrace His Son, Jesus as your savior and friend. For He tells us, that He desires His joy to be in us and that our joy would be full. And, His joy lasts for all eternity. I pray that you know this joy in Christ today.
